Along side this software, we will integrate it with your client's existing database for you, and we also host the site and database. All this, allows you to get on with designing the site and kick-starts site development.

The eCommerce site is run by a Web Server using a toolkit of Java Servlets to produce Dynamic Web Pages and handle User Interaction with the site.
These servlets use SQL Queries to access a DataBase containing the information used by the site.
The · Web Server · FireWall · Java Servlet Toolkit · DataBase · Set-Up · Domain Name transfer · First Year's Hosting are all included in the SITEServ Package. Use of an SSL Secure Server is also included.

As part of the SITEServ package we can link a client's existing DataBase to the live DataBase used by the site.

What's in the SITEServ Servlet Toolkit? |

PageFiller servlet parsing HTML 'template' pages. Filling in values and lists from user defined SQL queries on the DataBase (e.g. stock levels and customer account information), the user's Session information (e.g. name and log-in status) and parameters passed in the call to the page. |

Shopping Cart using live information from the DataBase, handling tax and postage linked in with the Customer's details (such as their delivery country). Displayed using template HTML pages and customizable messages. |

Secure Shopping Check-Out intelligently guides new or existing customers through registering and ordering. Adding new customers and orders to the DataBase and optionally emailing orders as Text or XML format to Sales Staff. |

Secure Customer Log-In authenticates existing customers from the DataBase, retrieving their customer and account details and site access level, which can be used by the other Servlets to customize page content. |

QueryGUI Used to quickly and easily produce and run paginated HTML reports and listings from SQL queries on the DataBase. Such as a product search engine or to display a customer's past orders. The servlet guides developers through defining the query and HTML results pages and formatting values through an HTML based GUI. |

CustomerInfo servlet, displayed through template HTML pages this allows customers to view and update their account details (e.g. email address and phone number). |

Templates & Design Freedom |

Web Designers have complete freedom in the design and look of the site, since all the servlets (except QueryGUI) simply fill in template HTML pages produced by your Web Development Team.
These templates are simply HTML pages with server-side script embedded wherever values or lists are required. The servlets parse the script when the page is requested, and replace it with the required values before the page is sent to the browser.
The Script is very simple to use, and is intended to be used with JavaScript, not replace it. As well as allowing values to be requested, it provides useful functions, such as generating lists or JavaScript arrays from SQL queries, or URL encoding strings. Simple logic statements can be used to alter page content and queries, depending on parameter values such as a user's session information.

The SITEServ Package includes our Set-Up and Hosting of the FireWall, Web Server and DataBase server (for the 1st year). Server set-up includes transfer costs for a domain name - we can also (optionally) register new domains.
Our powerful servers are connected to the UK Internet backbone with multiple connections and are monitored 24x7 to provide secure, very high reliability, fast hosting at competitive costs.
Site Hosting costs are based on levels of Bandwidth, and Servlet usage. So if your site's success surges beyond the basic package limits, they can be instantly increased to meet demands - without having to alter the site, or change ISP.
Our SITEServ Package has been designed with growth and expansion very much in mind. We produce customised and specialist Servlets to seamlessly provide additional functionality, tying in with other services where required.
We are happy to help with specialist requests, such as leased line connections to client DataBases; providing individual servers Web / Database / SSL; bespoke client DataBase - Web Site - Ordering System integration.
